Stages of a translation from Mahrt Fachübersetzungen
We first analyze the document sent to us, making a non-binding offer which takes account of your particular wishes. Then we choose the best translator for the field and target language once the order has been placed. If documents are large or urgent, we will coordinate several competent translators and then put the translated texts back together again. Finally, we check the quality of the translation, including its formatting and layout, before it is delivered.
Translation memory tools and databases ensure reliable, consistent translations of your terminology so that all translations are in keeping with your corporate identity. We work with the leading translation memory programs: SDL Trados Studio, Transit, Déjà Vu, MemoQ, etc.
Because our translators are native speakers, they are also able to factor in cultural aspects of the target language. But if necessary, our localization goes even further. For instance, we take account of legal regulations, consumer and user habits in the target country, differing keyboard layouts and country-specific character sets, as well as any changes in tags and scripts which may be of importance.
Foreign language typesetting / DTP
Foreign language typesetting is a further localization. We take account of any changes which the layout of a translated document may require and see to it that the layout of the translation matches that of the source text so it will achieve the desired effect in the target country.
Proofreading - editing
If you have a text that is already translated but would like to have someone proofread it or improve its style, we also offer these services for texts we have not ourselves translated. Of course, they are included in the price for our own work.
We offer all forms of interpreting – simultaneous or consecutive, conference or liaison interpreting. We will be happy to help you choose the best method and technique of translation, and will provide you with competent, reliable interpreters.
We work with all common file formats, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat (PDF files), QuarkXpress, InDesign, FrameMaker, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
Data transfer & security
Feel free to e-mail us any documents you would like to have translated. We treat every request for proposal and every job order as strictly confidential as a matter of course. Upon request, we will also make use of the Pretty Good Privacy program (PGP) to encrypt e-mail correspondence. If you need to transfer large amounts of data, you can also drag & drop your documents by way of a secure SSL/TLS connection directly onto one of our servers. All you need to do so is one of the usual browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc. We will send you the Web address of the server, your user ID and password, and a brief set of instructions. Then you will be able to use an encrypted connection to log in to a section of our server reserved for your own use exclusively and not accessible to third parties. There you can upload your files and download them again when they are ready.
